Dog owners are more likely to work from home

According to a recent study, dog owners are more inclined to work at home or adjust their hours to accommodate their dogs.

Sainsbury’s Bank surveyed 1,000 parents and 1,000 pet owners and found that many workers re-evaluated their work-life-balance after getting a dog. They also wanted to adjust their work schedules in order to take care of their pet.

One-third of dog owners surveyed said they now work from home more often as a result of modifying their working hours.

A third of respondents (31%) reported that having a pet had made them more aware of the importance work-life balance.

Another 15% sought assistance from dog sitters, day care providers and walkers. But despite all of these changes, 13% still said that it was difficult to find a balance between their work and dog time.

Vicky Yuill is the head of insurance for Sainsbury’s Bank. She said, “Our survey shows a significant change in employee preferences when it comes to dog owners who take charge of their needs.

The data shows that employees are increasingly looking for flexible working arrangements and policies that allow pets. In the future, employers will have to take into consideration this policy to retain and attract talent,” Yuill said.
