More that half (56%) UK workers now say they’re more likely to accept an offer of employment with an employer that actively supports their health in the long term, such as by providing health benefits.
A poll of 1,200 UK adult employees conducted by employee benefits provider Elevate also revealed that nearly two thirds (67%) want to take a more proactive approach to their health. They are interested in preventing illness, rather than simply reacting to symptoms.
It is possible that they are receptive towards health-based prevention campaigns and initiatives.
The study also revealed that one third of workers (31%), are “worried” or believe they may be at an increased risk for a certain health condition, but haven’t had it tested.
Dr Nitin Shori is the chief medical officer and co-founder of Elevate. He said that there has been a shift in healthcare towards prevention. Employee health checks have entered a new era.
Dr Shori said, “It is a new area in the employee benefit market that goes beyond the annual health check-up and the typical healthcare provision.”
These findings are in line with research conducted last summer, which found that young employees (under 34 years old) want or expect to be able to access health insurance through their employer.
This poll by Simplyhealth, a health insurance provider, found that 60% Gen Z and millennials wanted health coverage at work. 60% said that this benefit is what initially attracted them to their company.
