According to Envoy’s new report, 2025 Workplace Predictions, workplace technology and changing generational expectations will be key factors in the office environment in 2025.

He said that forward-thinking businesses are reimagining spaces, leveraging technology and aligning themselves with changing employee needs.
The report highlights three key areas that are expected to have a significant impact on workplace strategies over the next year: the growing role of AI and automation, the generational differences of workplace expectations, and the impact office design has on employee motivation.
AI and Automation will Transform the Workplace
AI and automation will likely drive major changes to office operations. In the report, 76 percent of respondents predicted that AI and machine-learning will have a significant impact on workplaces by 2025. AI-powered tools are also believed to improve productivity, according to 84 percent of respondents. They believe that AI-powered software optimises workflows and supports decision-making.
60% of companies are prioritising immersive technology for virtual and in person collaboration. Gen Z employees have a particular focus on spaces with tech-enabled features that encourage teamwork and connections.
Nevertheless, some businesses face challenges as a result of the automation shift. Reports show that 47 percent struggle to adapt new technologies in the workplace. Companies can lose up to 30% of revenue because of manual processes.
The Generational Differences at Work
The report shows how the priorities of different generations are workplace flexibility, autonomy, and technology integration. Gen Z employees believe that the demand for remote work and flexibility will influence workplace policies and culture. Millennials (66%) are more interested in autonomy and hybrid arrangements. Gen X and Boomers, 60 and 69 per cent respectively, want to see technology improve hybrid experiences.
Despite the differences in age, 63 per cent of employees agree that satisfaction and well-being are important metrics for success at work. Workplace flexibility is a top priority for 66 per cent of respondents.
Office Design and Employee Engagement
The office design is a major factor in motivating employees. According to the report, 51 percent of Gen Z workers consider comfort and design in their office to be important reasons for returning to traditional work. Many people prefer quiet, focused spaces and immersive tech-enabled settings.
Collaboration is also a driving force, with 57 per cent of employees prioritising meaningful engagement in teams as a motivation to work at the office. Office layout and design play a part in performance. 92 percent agree that an improved workplace design increases long-term productivity.
