King’s College London won the overall award at the 26th Personnel Today Awards, for a wide-ranging and impactful HR program.
The university was also awarded the HR Team Award of the Year, in which the judges commended them for their strategic commitment towards creating a community among staff.
The team was able to reduce staff attrition almost in half by completing a comprehensive survey of staff, enlarging the organisational improvement team, and identifying the key areas for improvement. They also improved internal promotion, and increased inclusion.
The 2024 Personnel Today Awards were held at London’s Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane.
Richard Ayoade, the star of The IT Crowd on Channel 4 and Travel Man on Channel 4, was the host.
The editor of Personnel Today, Rob Moss, thanked everyone who supported the event and highlighted the “compassionate, creative, and compassionate” HR professionals in these often chaotic times.
“Tonight, we recognize all that HR has accomplished to help people achieve their best, to make their work a positive aspect of their lives, and to create fulfilling and friendly workplaces,” he said.
The judges were impressed by the high standard of entries this year. Everyone who made it to the shortlist in their category should feel very proud.
There were 26 categories this year, and more than 100 employers were shortlisted.
Angela Williams, HR Director at Corsearch, won the highly sought after HR Director of Year Award sponsored by LHH. The judges praised Angela Williams’ “visionary leadership” and “impact” after she unified the systems and cultures of eight acquired companies.
