LinkedIn’s first Snapshot of Work Change shows that the UK workforce is rapidly changing, with 1 in 10 global hires by 2024 holding roles which did not exist back in 2000.
Jobs such as AI Engineer or Sustainability Manager reflect the need for new skills to adapt to a changing environment. The rapid development of artificial intelligence and other technologies is mirroring this shift in workforce requirements.
Nearly 74 percent (in the UK) of business leaders say that technological advances are accelerating change in the workplace. Though 80 percent of UK leaders believe AI can improve team performance, only eight percent think their organizations are leading the way in AI adoption.
HR Teams are Under Pressure to Support Workplace Change
As businesses strive to adapt to new developments, HR professionals are more and more relied on to guide organizations through these transitions. Over half (51%) of UK HR professionals say that workplace expectations are at an all-time height as they assist businesses in navigating this changing landscape.
The additional responsibilities, however, are a challenge. More than a third of UK HR professionals feel overwhelmed by daily decisions. 15 percent of them spend up to one quarter of their time gathering information and insights.
LinkedIn’s UK Country manager, Janine Chamberlin said: “In today’s workplace, the only thing that we can count on is change. Modern workplaces are constantly changing. While new technologies like AI have the potential to enhance our daily work, many companies are still trying to figure out how to maximize that potential.
“HR teams are a wealth of knowledge and insights, and it is great to see that business leaders are relying on them to help them understand the opportunities and challenges.” These teams must be provided with the resources, tools and training they need to effectively guide their organizations through these workplace changes.
