Blick Rothenberg raises more than PS10,000 for cancer charities

Six colleagues of the leading audit, tax, and business advisory firm Blick Rothenberg completed a 50-mile Jersey Walk in order to raise funds for The Connection at St Martin’s and The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

Andy Sanford and Heather Powell along with Paul Haywood-Schiefer and Katharine, Darsh, and Dharma Dharma Morzaria, walked the Jersey coast to raise money for two former colleagues, Linda Bute, and Mike Scoltock, who both died from cancer, and took part in the first Blick-Rothenberg Jersey Walk 15 years ago.

Heather Powell, the Head of Property, said that “on Friday, 13 ^th after a hearty meal, we started our adventure in Gorey, on the East Coast. The weather was perfect and the views of the coast were Mediterranean. It was difficult to believe that we were still technically in Britain with cliffs and sandy beaches.

She continued: “The views provided a welcome distraction to the aches and discomforts that were slowly creeping up on us.” We all kept going, buoyed by the generosity of our colleagues and friends.

Heather said, “The next couple of days were fuelled with a dangerous mixture of diet coke and painkillers. But it was the wonderful company and conversation from what some might call six misfits who kept us going!” We left behind the treacherous cliffs and rocky bays, and were welcomed with postcard-worthy beaches. The end was slowly in sight.

She said: “When we arrived at Gorey Castle, a feeling of accomplishment rang throughout the six of us. Weary and dishevelled, we were looking for some rest.”

Heather said, “We’re grateful to everyone for their generosity. Thanks to over 300 donations we have raised more than PS10,000 to support two incredible causes. Blick Rothenberg is also making an additional donation as part of its continued support for The Connection, BR’s charity of the Year.
