Podcast Ep. Podcast Ep. 10 – Onboarding : Don’t toss your recruits overboard

It is likely that the start of a job will be one of life’s most significant events. This can be a very important time for an employer. Listen to the podcast that examines onboarding from different perspectives.

Our panelists were Rachel Schonwald Senior Marketing Campaign Manager at HiBob; Ross Crook Global Managing Director, Morgan Mckinley Talent Solutions, and Nicole Whittaker Associate Director, Peninsula HR Consulting.

Employers certainly value the ability to automate processes and to ensure that paperwork is completed on time and in compliance with the law. However, it is important to maintain the human element of the process. The onboarding process is influenced by the job type, the sector, and the seniority of the employee. However, each new employee needs to be treated with individual care when they join a new company.

The panelists explored the idea of transparency throughout the discussion so that new recruits and candidates know exactly what to expect and their experience at the organisation is in line with that expectation. A discussion on multi-generational workforces also took place, with an interesting insight as to the differences between Gen X and Gen Z in terms of their expectations for onboarding.

In a time when organisations are under pressure to reduce costs or, at the very least, control them, it is important to pay attention to the hiring process to find efficiencies. This will also help employers to get the most out of the candidates they hire.
