According to LinkedIn research, one in ten people hired in 2024 will have a job title that did not exist at the beginning of the millennium.
Work Change Snapshot, a professional network report, found that roles such as artificial intelligence (AI), sustainability manager and AI engineer were not common in 2000.
UK business leaders have also noted that the pace of changes at work has increased, with 3 out of 4 (74%) stating this is due to a greater demand for roles, skills, and technologies.
In addition, 51% believe that employers expect more from HR professionals as they assist them in addressing workplace changes.
LinkedIn states that with the rapid advancement of new technologies including AI, it is expected that skills required for UK jobs will change by 65% from 2016 to 2030. This highlights the need for companies to adapt.
The global platform emphasized that there is an enormous opportunity for businesses who are ready to embrace AI. It emphasized that the majority (80%) UK business leaders surveyed recognize the potential of AI in improving their team’s performances, yet only 8% of them believe that their companies are at the forefront of AI adoption.
More than one third (35%) of respondents reported feeling overwhelmed by the daily decisions they have to make. 15% spent up to a quarter their work week searching for information and insights.
Janine Chamberlin from LinkedIn’s UK office said, “In today’s workplace, the only thing that we can count on is change. Modern workplaces are constantly changing. While new technologies like AI have the potential to enhance our daily work, many companies are still trying to figure out how to maximize that potential.

Hiring Assistant is LinkedIn’s AI agent that will automate repetitive tasks for recruiters, giving them more time to do more meaningful work. The assistant is only available to select recruiters at the moment, but will be made available to all recruiters globally in the next few months.
LinkedIn has also added a new AI powered coaching feature to LinkedIn Learning that helps people practice interpersonal skills using text or voice in interactive scenarios.
