Herbert Smith Freehills announced plans to merge US firm Kramer Levin, making it one of the top 20 law firms worldwide.
Both firms say that the strength and scale of Herbert Smith Freehills in the UK, Asia-Pacific, and EMEA plus Kramer Levin’s reputation in the US will create an outstanding offering for their clients.
Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer will be a combined company with more than 2,700 attorneys, including approximately 680 partners. The company will have 25 offices around the world and a total revenue of $2bn (PS1.6bn).

The combined firm will be called HSF Kramer and will have offices in the US in sectors such as financial services, energy, infrastructure, mining, technology, and more.
The proposed merger will be subject to the usual closing conditions. This includes a vote of the partners from each firm.
