According to a new study, AI is used by 29 percent of employees.
According to a study conducted by LawDeb, an independent professional services company, one in ten people uses AI to complete a large part of their job.
In the survey of 2 008 UK workers, 34% of men use AI compared to 25% of women. In addition, 14% men use it as a major part of their work, whereas only half of that percentage (7%) of women say the same.
The study found that men aged 25-34 in London are most likely to support AI.
More than a fifth of respondents (22%) said they would feel comfortable using AI but have not done so yet. Almost two-thirds (37%) said that they would not feel comfortable using AI.
Not knowing how to use AI (19%), thinking it unethical (14%), and fearing they would get into trouble (6%) are all reasons for not using AI. The younger staff are more likely to support AI but also to oppose it for ethical reasons (19%).
Research showed that those between the ages of 25 and 34 are most comfortable using AI (62%), while those living in London are more likely to be pro AI (59%).
The C-suite (27%) as well as senior managers (23%) were found to be most likely to use AI for a large part of their jobs.
Patrick Davis, the head of UK Corporate Secretarial Services (CSS) for LawDeb said that the future of AI is inevitable in the workplace, regardless of whether it is used personally or professionally, and no matter how small or large the amount of usage. It is therefore the responsibility of boards, their technology, cyber and risk teams, and their governance team to develop policies and guidelines on how to use AI in a manner that preserves creativity and integrity for individuals and businesses within a secure system work environment. If employees are left to “fly blind”, they may find themselves in ethical, legal, and regulatory dilemmas.
