Bloomberg obtained a memo from Home Depot in which it announced that every employee, including executives, will be required to work an eight-hour day at a Home Depot store once a quarter.
This is brilliant and how businesses should operate when their core functions are different from those of the corporate office.
Home Depot hasn’t been the first company to put corporate people in the middle of the action. When I was working in the corporate office of Wegmans 25 years ago, we all had to go into the stores. During the holidays, everyone was on their toes. If I was needed in a shop, I would go there.
