“EFT is a self-help technique that can be discreetly used, whether you are sitting in your office with your eyes shut or taking a break at the bathroom. Cathy, a Mental Health & Wellbeing coach at Westfield Health, says that a few minutes tapping can reduce anxiety, help manage emotions, and reset employees during a particularly stressful day.
EFT, also known as tapping Therapy , helps you to overcome negative feelings and thoughts associated with trauma, anxiety, and even addiction. It is as simple as lightly tapping on the acupressure point on your body and repeating affirming sentences.
Celebrities are also a big fan. Boy George could be seen tapping away his emotional distress during a episode of I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! in 2022. He is not the only one. Madonna, Lilly Allen and Whoopi Goldberg also swear by EFT. EFT is used by celebrities ranging from pop singers to established actors.
The latest data from Westfield Health’s 2024 employee survey shows that almost 1 in 2 UK employees (45%) believe that poor mental health affects their productivity. There’s no question that we must use tried and tested methods to deal with the fast-paced demands of our workday.
What are the benefits to EFT?
In a time when mental health issues are on the rise, workplaces can benefit from using simple techniques that ease stress.
EFT can help you regulate your emotions. It may ease that constant mental chatter, and lower the stress hormone cortisol. The best part is? It doesn’t require any fancy apps, equipment or quiet rooms. Just your fingertips and a few seconds to tap away at a relaxed you.
Cathy, who used EFT to calm her nerves prior to delivering a presentation, says that the beauty of EFT is its universality and accessibility. It can help build confidence and provide a sense relief and security to those who are struggling with mental health.
“Tapping is very helpful but it should not be used as a substitute for professional mental support.” Please contact your workplace wellbeing solution or a mental healthcare professional if you are dealing with chronic stress, trauma or intense fears.
